About the journal

Simple things, considered.

Stillform is a small independent web journal about everyday spaces, useful objects, and the pleasure of paying attention.

Illustration of books and everyday objects on two shelves

A place for ordinary ideas.

The journal begins with a simple observation: many of the things that make a day feel better are already close at hand. A chair can be moved toward the light. A shelf can become easier to use. A familiar walk can offer something new to notice.

Our notes explore those small possibilities. They are intended to be useful without turning everyday life into another project to perfect.

What you will find here

Spaces looks at the rooms and corners we inhabit. Objects considers things through use. Rituals makes room for small moments of attention. Materials explores the surfaces and textiles we live with.

How the journal is made

The essays and illustrations are original editorial material created for this journal. The drawings are intentionally simple: a starting point for imagining your own space, rather than a photograph of a particular home or product.

There are no sponsored recommendations, product sales, or paid placements on this site. You do not need an account to read any of the notes.
